Message in the Music (Cecillia/Amy/Quentin) Empty Message in the Music (Cecillia/Amy/Quentin)

As Amy and Cecillia cautiously made their way back to the Old House, Cecillia ran to fetch the key which Amy had left behind. Bringing it back to the drawing room where she stood, Cecillia handed it to her. “How are we ever going to find out what lock this goes to,” Cecillia asked curiously. “There are just so many possibilities that it . . .” Before Cecillia could finish, a familiar tune filled the air, causing her to turn in the direction towards the door. “Do you hear that Amy,” Cecillia asked, going towards the foyer, trying to figure out if it was coming from inside the house. “The music, Quentin’s music . . . don’t you hear it?”

Following Cecillia who became interested in the music that was heard, Amy looked around hearing nothing. “Cecillia what are you?” Watching her proceed further into the darkened halls, she pulled ahead of her. “Cecillia what are you talking about what music of Quentin’s are you hearing?” Suddenly as it just appeared in her ear, Amy listened looking away from Cecillia. “I hear it. but where is it coming from?”

“I’m not sure,” Cecillia said, continuing to look around. Suddenly though, she felt compelled in a specific direction, and as she headed towards the front door, she realized that the music was coming from Collinwood. “Come, Amy,” Cecillia said, already making her way towards Collinwood. “I don’t know why, but I feel that this is the way we must go; but how will we ever get passed anyone in Collinwood. Or better yet, I wonder where specifically we are even going?”

Thinking for a moment, Amy looked at the music was getting louder approaching Collinwood. “I believe there is a portal if I remember correctly to get to certain rooms in Collinwood.” Approaching the side of the house, Amy glanced through the window seeing various people along with Jamison having a discussion.” Coming to a small broken title that was placed differently, Amy pushed in and found a portal slowly opening. “Well this will at least get us in.” Amy said as the two made their way inside.

Quentin had been discreetly watching over the two women as they made their way into the secret passageway, just as he had hoped. Causing the music to become louder and louder with every step forward that they took, he guided the two in the correct direction. As they come upon a split in the passageway, Quentin appeared in the shadows, attracting their attention and leading them towards him.

“Amy look,” Cecillia said, directing her cousin in the correct direction. Following to the end of the long passage, the two came upon a narrow staircase leading upstairs. Looking at the rickety, rotting wood, Cecillia hesitantly placed her foot on it; “it doesn’t look very sturdy she said,” but Quentin, at the top of the stairs, urged them to continue up it. Wanting nothing more than to get the loud music to stop, Cecillia went first up the stairs, grasping the splintery railing as she went. After reaching the top, the door creaked open exposing a very dark hall, and then, Quentin vanished, leaving the two women to themselves and the music.

Looking around the cluttered room seeing the various objects, Amy went over slowly examining everything while trying to find the source to the music. Seeing the phonograph on near the window, Amy went to it as it was playing. Turing to Cecillia, “I think we have found the source to the music.” Noticing Cecillia had a distinguishing feature on her face Amy turned as she pointed, “What is it?” Looking behind her, Amy saw a jewellery box on the counter. Going to it she picked it up but thought it was a little different somehow. “Cecillia do you think this is it,” passing it to her.

Cecillia examined the box, finding it to look just like the other one, causing confusion to set in. “Amy, I don’t know if this is the real one or if the other one is!” She continued to look at the box, running her fingers around the details, until her eyes landed on a major one. “The bird image on top . . . this one lacks it,” Cecillia said to herself, then gazed up at Amy. “I don’t know how, but this is an exact recreation of the other one, except one thing: the bird on top.” Handing it back to Amy, Cecillia pondered the realization. “What good does this do us,” she questioned, glancing around the room for any other clues but finding nothing.

“Perhaps this box was the gift that was meant for Mildred instead she has the time box.” Amy said glancing at the design. “Yes I remember Vladimir mentioning something about it being their father’s insignia on the top.” She braced herself holding close to her cousin as Amy opened it. Sighing of relief she noticed it was empty. “Its just a plain jewellery box Cecillia. It must be the one Mildred is after.”

Cecillia looked between it and Amy in curiosity. "So this means, that if we find a way to get this one in Mildred's possession and take the other one, that she will notice no difference?" Cecillia smiled, thinking that the plan was just that easy. She then frowned, however, realizing that they wouldn't just be able to walk up to Mildred and ask for an exchange of boxes. "I surely hope we are able to do what needs to be done now," Cecillia said with a slight doubt in her voice.
